WAFB News 9 story on Old Jefferson
WAFB’s broadcast news reported Old Jefferson had one resident who has not tested positive for COVID 19. The reporter, Scottie Hunter, interpreted the data incorrectly. Their web reporter, Samantha Morgan got the information correct. Here is the link to her article.
We have contacted the station and they are working on a correction. We currently have 23 Covid positive residents. 38 have been resolved. 28 of the asymptomatic residents whom we tested, tested negative. You may remember that we went above and beyond CDC recommendations to test only those who were symptomatic and procured the testing to test all asymptomatic residents and staff in order to best keep residents and staff safe. We know that this would result in additional positives, but that knowledge is critical in putting processes and systems in place to keep residents safe. We continue to test asymptomatic people routinely. Please refer to Dr. Curtis and Howard Sadler’s video explaining this process on our website.
